latest issue of ombudsman news now available
14 July 2003
Issue 29 of ombudsman news is now available on the Financial Ombudsman Service website. In this edition we:
- highlight some practical matters that could affect firms, and us, as a result of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002; and
- take a look at some of the travel insurance disputes that reach us, focusing particularly on those relating to claims for the cancellation or curtailment of a holiday - and to the exclusion of ‘pre-existing’ medical conditions from cover.
We also:
- focus on some of the complaints we have received that involve the ‘voluntary concessions’ firms sometimes make for their banking and mortgage customers;
- clarify the differences between ‘guaranteed income bonds’ and ‘guaranteed capital bonds’; and
- provide a wide-ranging round-up of recent investment-related complaints.
